Transe Express - Midsummer dreams part 1

That's markedly similar to the way I feel about the musical overload Ben. Listen once, forget, move on. The sheer quantity is overwhelming in the extreme, and there is no way to 'keep up' with it all. Tunes that stay lodged with you can occur very unexpectedly and in any genre at all, yet sometimes they are the tunes that you would rather not stay around. Like an unwelcome, irritating guest (think-: Akon) (and that blinkin' umbrella song).
But these are songs that you tend to hear everywhere and the only way to avoid them is sometimes to have your mp3 player permanently screwed in place, with a playlist of your best music discoveries. Only this saves me from the inanity of commercial music. I tend to listen to 2-3 hours of commercial radio a day and probably twice the amount of new material from various sources, for me this balances out pretty well.
I think the key is finding what balance you need in your life. It can be very difficult to acheive for some I guess.

Saving myself a bunch of multiple plurks...
I'm wrestling with the same dilemma. I'm finding it a 'roller coaster' at times. However, I've delved into whole other worlds of discovery but more importantly I'm constantly refining those sites, tools & places. For example, I'm much more selective with pages & times of discovery on T61. It has 'grown me up' in many ways to explore the numerous & constantly developing sites & tools out there for discovery & exploration. I don't always need to be fed from singular sources. However, I know that is better for listeners with less time or only more 'normal' time to spend. I'm also overcoming a significant problem that I've encountered in my new mode...info overload. I'm progressively exploring, adding & dropping sites with my tools on an ongoing basis so as to develop and maintain a core that I'm regularly on checking. When something doesn't yield as much material or either overlaps & duplicates, I either drop it or put it in cue for less regular visits. It keeps the sources manageable, realistic, diverse & enjoyable. The variety & eclecticness is now starting to make it exciting for me. I like managing my own discovery now although I admit making it organized & manageable was a daunting task at first. I've had to throw my discovery postings over to my gafhptva.soup.io page so as to not throw a ton of crap at everyone of plurk. So it has cut down on my plurking but hasn't ended it nor do I envision that having to happen. It is a tough balance I must admit. I haven't 'figured' it out yet but it helps me on T61 discovery & just with the friendships in general. I haven't yet found a plurk/soup.io/tumblr/T61 site to use my Songbird on yet...lol.
